Webb Station Assets

Story Arc & planning

Webb Station - Basic premise deals with an alternate dimension opened up in North Texas due to a catastrophic failure with the Supercolliding Super Conductor and the semi-fictional town of Webb, which ended up being the location for a military outpost acting as a “launching point” for scientific research into this alternate dimension. Experiments were carried out in 1986, but control over the station and its second dimension base (SDB) failed in 1989, leading to the Army Corps of Engineers to flood the town & the station, burying it under what would become Joe Pool Lake.

This alternate dimension (tentatively named the Inverse Zone - could change) is geographically identical to our own, except that due to some unknown ancient cataclysm, there is no human presence. The land is scorched, the air incredibly toxic, and gravity considerably altered from our own. The dimension is also inhabited by very advanced & dangerous lizard entities, named Reptile Endemic Proponents (REPs - tentative, could change). The REPs have become the apex predator of the dimension, and due to the experiments run by the military, who attempted to weaponize them, have been merged with a bio-technological viral agent, that has altered their appearance & augmented their abilities.

The series takes place in 2022, with our protagonist accidentally picking up a radio transmission from a monitoring station near the lake, while searching for emergency weather info during a storm. Being curious, our protagonist begins investigating.

Pre-Arc Planning:
ARG Components:
- Social media accounts - most interaction should happen via Twitter, with video updates and progress happening via YouTube. A primary Webb Station account will host all primary story-arc content. A secondary account will be created for series antagonist to influence arc indirectly.
- Soundcloud/Audio Platform for audio recordings - initial interaction for protagonist will be via radio comms, which will be coded and hosted via an audio platform.
- Google Phone Number - used for audience interaction, with automated scripting for responses and cryptic voicemail items.

Filming Locations:
- River Legacy Park service trails, Arlington, TX
- Cedar Hills State Park, Cedar Hill, TX
- Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve, Cedar Hill, TX
- Cedar Hill Radio Towers, Cedar Hill, TX
- Super Colliding Superconductor, Waxahachie, TX
- Needing industrial/urban environment for the station itself - TBD

Arc #1 - Discovery - regular text: story / Italics bracketed text: ARG element

Terrible thunderstorm & tornado warnings for DFW area - protagonist loses power and uses an emergency radio in an attempt to pick up weather information from the National Weather Service (NWS). Without cell service or power, they can’t find the correct frequency for the local NWS channel, so they start cycling through the bands. As they do, they stumble on a very low-power UHF frequency transmitting an audio key.

[This should be a cypher of some form - as the first ARG element, it shouldn’t be overly complex but not super simple. Not Morse/Caeser cyphers, but perhaps a hex code/ASCII of some type, converted to an audio file}

Decrypting the audio key leads to a webpage indicating a status update for some unknown location. Reviewing the page shows what appears to be a latitude & longitude for a location near Joe Pool Lake - with a status showing a series of “scheduled check-ins” that have been incomplete for a period of time, and triggered the radio alert. Our protagonist debates visiting the location, as its not a far drive. The radio transmission continues repeating audio loop requesting “station integrity verification”

Protagonist visits the location, using a series of hidden forrest trails, all unmarked and severely overgrown. Upon reaching the destination, they find a mysterious old red telephone with a wireless hookup hidden amongst the trees, giving off a soft pulsing ringing

[this pulsing audio could be a code of some form}

The protagonist picks up the phone (without pressing any buttons) and places it to their ear, triggering a loud audio response from the phone. The phone then goes silent before a voice comes over the line “passcode not entered - emergency containment protocols activated” before blaring an alarm. The protagonist, now scared, begins looking around only to see a shadowy figure at the end of the trail running toward them. The protagonist turns and bolts, running back to their car. As they drive off, still scared and now paranoid, their car radio mysterious turns on to an emergency channel blaring the same alarm.

[The alarm should be similar to the alarm from the phone, but could have a hidden code indicating “Webb Station Compromised”]
